A roof provides more than just shelters, it could be an extra living space for homes, an energy-saving feature for businesses, or a better learning space for students and teachers.
Cool School Programme kick-started in 2010 with SMK Sultan Abdul Samad in Petaling Jaya, where Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Dato' Haji Muhyiddin bin Haji Muhammad Yassin and Secretary-General of Ministry of Education, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Dr Zulkurnain Bin Haji Awang officiated the school’s gymnasium hall that was completed with a new MONIER CoolRoof®.
The improvement of infrastructure and comfort was evident as students and teachers now can have a greater focus on their activities – a testimony to the effectiveness of MONIER CoolRoof® system in bringing a better and cooler environment.

Following the success at SMK Sultan Abdul Samad, we headed to Kuantan in the east coast for our 2nd school – SK (P) Methodist (MGS Kuantan).
Built before the Japanese Occupation, most of the school’s building blocks are still intact till this day. Yet, the roof condition was old and in very bad condition for years. With the new MONIER Perspective® Roof System, the school now looks and feels “cooler” inside and out!
We are proud to bring our Cool School Programme up north to Penang! We have chosen SJK(C) Kong Ming Pusat to be the 3rd school for re-roofing, to provide a more comfortable and better teaching-learning experience for both students and teachers.
This 62-year-old school experienced water leakages, excess heat as well as bat invasion which caused both stains and odours from their droppings.
It took about a month’s time to complete the re-roofing works of the school’s main building. MONIER’s Contour® Marseille injects a sense of heritage which complements the school’s history and culture. Next up, we have SMK Canossa as the 4th school to participate in the programme.
Located in the historical city of Melaka, SMK Canossa Convent is MONIER’s lucky number 4 of our Cool School Programme. Formerly known as SMK Sacred Heart Convent, it was established in 1930 and currently has an enrolment of about 400 students.
SMK Canossa Convent experienced leakages and excess heat with their previous roof, but it was all restored with MONIER’s Perspective® Roof System – providing a cooler and conducive teaching-learning environment for both teachers and students alike.
SMK Canossa Convent, Melaka has been chosen as the first school in the Southern region for CSR initiative. We have identified that the roof of the school’s main block is the best location to be retrofitted with BMI MONIER CoolRoof®. As one of the systems in BMI MONIER Energy Efficient Roofing Solutions, E3, BMI MONIER CoolRoof® is a sustainable system to save energy and protect the environment by creating a natural airflow and heat barriers which limits heat transfers through the roof. Subsequently, through use of this technology, indoor comfort level is greatly increased.
